Yesterday, November 19, we have formally marked our partnership with the University of the Philippines Diliman - National Institute of Geological Sciences (NIGS) through the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding between the Provincial Government and UP-NIGS.
With our partnership, UPD - NIGS will be extending us valuable technical assistance in the assessment of potential geosites in Northern Samar.
Grateful to the UP administration and UPD-NIGS for their continuing support to the Provincial Government as we aim to become part of the roster of world-renowned UNESCO Global Geoparks. This recognition will not only preserve our geological heritage but also boost our local economy, create jobs, and place our province on the global map as a sustainable eco-tourism destination.
